About Us

OUR VISION
All students at Anna H. Rockwell School will demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics as they are engaged in purposeful work that is differentiated and challenging.  We will strive to build every student’s ability to think critically and creatively, as students will be involved in collaborative experiences where they will be expected to communicate effectively, question ideas, and discover new perspectives.  Students will learn to persevere through challenges and reflect on their learning.  Respect, responsibility, and kindness will be cornerstones of all we do, as we strive to excel academically, and continue to grow socially and emotionally.

ROCKWELL STUDENTS
Kindness, Achievement and Responsibility are proudly displayed above our front entrance of Rockwell School. These words are an example of the foundation of principles that anchor and inspire our community of learners. Here at Rockwell, we encourage our students to be prepared and focused as they discover the world around them. We look for our students to develop strong study skills, appropriate behavior/habits and a love of learning. One of our biggest challenges is to keep the children engaged and motivated to do their best all day long. As we strive to develop a strong work ethic in our students, we look to parents to also help support life learning skills and development of character. Putting forth one’s best effort is part of our expectations for our students.

ROCKWELL TEACHERS
Our teachers are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of the students as they progress through their years at Rockwell School. The staff uses assessment data and their own observations of the students to provide appropriate interventions to ensure that the students are meeting the goals that are encompassed in the Common Core Standards from the CT State Department of Education. The staff is tenacious regarding the development of their instructional plans based on assessment data and we are proud of the accomplishments of our students. Our entire staff has very high expectations for class participation, academic growth and behavior and we provide a very positive environment for our students to learn in and grow to be responsible and respectful people.
